Fair Trade = No Poverty

Culemborg, 26 September 2016 - This year WFTO observes Global Anti-Poverty Week (16-22 October 2016) by promoting the 10 Principles of Fair Trade as means to eradicate poverty as desired by the first goal of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals - NO POVERTY.

WFTO believes that the principles of Fair Trade are effective overarching tools to fight poverty.
Using the concept of 'Agent for Change' (Fair Trade as an agent for change), WFTO's formula to eradicate poverty:  Fair Trade + Economic Opportunities = No Poverty
 
 
By creating economic opportunities for producers, especially the small and marginalised farmers and artisans, WFTO and its members believes poverty can be eradicated.

Meet our producers

Here are a few pictures of Baladarshan producers from Perungudi . 
A few years before, all these families were living in Choolai slum area and have been relocated in huge slum boards in the southern outskirts of the city, most of the time without basic facilities such nearby hospital, school, marketplace...
15 women gathered together to create a baskets producers group under the responsibility of Mrs Anthoniyammal, group leader.

Warmest thanks to FTF-I members

Baladarshan extends its warmest thanks to all FTF-I members for their mobilization and support towards the artisans affected by the floods.

The total amount of Rs. 40,000 has been collected from FTF-I on January 30th and 10 artisans from various flooded areas could therefore be helped by way of an individual financial assistance worth Rs. 4,000.
